The dark purple colour with violet reflections retains all its intensity. The nose is dominated by an intense bouquet of cherries and plums followed by scents of chocolate, smoke and vanilla. Generous in the mouth, with good balanced and lively tannins contributing to a velvety structure. Long and fruity aftertaste, with a light touch of oak. It needs further ageing to reveal its full potential.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2010 Thema red is a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Agiorgitiko, coming in at 14% alcohol. It was aged for 12 months in French oak (40% new, the rest divided between second and third use oak). The Agiorgitiko makes a huge difference here compared to the monovarietal Syrah Emphasis also reviewed this issue. This seems more elegant, a bit lighter and rather graceful. Then, the winery-s basic themes take over: nice structure, good balance, tasty, but not overly obvious fruit. This doesn-t project quite the juicy richness or depth (relatively speaking - neither is bombastic wine, to be clear) of the monovarietal, or quite as much funk. The Syrah is neither shy nor mute here, to be sure. It is quite aromatic still. You can have a lot of fun and save a few bucks, too. Drink now-2020 (Apr 2014)

Serve at 17-18C. It is seeking the company of grilled red meat and spicy game, as well as spicy and unctuous cheeses. It’s a wine with a great potential of aging. It needs to be decanted before serving.

The aim of Pavlidis Estate is the production of premium wines, with pleasing aroma and flavor characteristics but also with a distinct and recognizable character. To fulfill this goal, the Estate has planted 60 hectares of privately-owned vineyards in order to achieve a complete control of the quality of its production. In these vineyards, native and international winegrape varieties are grown with the aim to reveal the unique characteristics of our region, a terroir used from ancient times until today for vine cultivation.
