Arneis originates from the Piedmont region of Italy. Our grandfather, Edoardo Seghesio, emigrated from that same region in 1886. This rare grape's literal translation is "little rascal" due to its erratic ripening tendencies and temperamental nature during fermentation.
For some time, we had the largest planting of Arneis in the country - all of 26 vines. Today, we have 5,000 vines (five acres) planted on our Keyhole Ranch.
|Begun in 1895 by your great grandparents, Edoardo and Angela Seghesio, Seghesio Family Vineyards is a collection of sustainably farmed estate vineyards in Sonoma County, hand-tended by our family for four generations.
