Located in the Fratta Quarte of Moticelli Brusati in the province of Brescia in the Lombardy, Antica Fratta can trace its history back to the mid 1800’s.
In 1979, Cristina Ziliani established Antica Fratta, restored the building to its former glory and continues to steer the brand forward today as its president.
The Ziliani family has a long history in wine production. Beginning in the mid-1950’s, Cristina’s father Franco Ziliani, considered the father of Franciacorta began making sparkling wines using the methode champenoise in the famous cellars of Guido Berlucchi. Cristina works closely with chief winemaker, Pierangelo Bonomi, who has over 30 years of experience in the wine industry.
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown on hillside vineyards are planted on glacial moraine consisting of calcareous clay where cool breezes from nearby Lake Iseo help mitigate the warm climate.

|An elegantly fresh, vivacious and full Franciacorta, characterized by pleasing fruity and floral aromas. Obtained from Chardonnay grapes after more than 24 months on yeasts. Excellent as an aperitif but it can also be served throughout a meal; it is particularly suitable for delicate dishes of fish and white meat.
|(100% Chardonnay). Fruit harvested from select hillside vineyards was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and aged in barrel.
Franciacorta must be aged for at least 25 months, of which 18 are on its lees. The maturation period for vintage Franciacorta is 37 months with 30 on its lees.

KNIGHT OF THE HOLY CROSS LUIGI ROSSETTI HAD MADE IT THE LARGEST AND FINEST IN THE PROVINCE; WITH FOUR INTERSECTING TUNNELS ARRANGED IN THE FORM OF A GREEK CROSS, IT COULD HOLD 6,000 HECTOLITRES OF WINE, AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT FOR THE TIME, WINNING IT ITS LOCAL NICKNAME, EL CANTINŮ, THE BIG CELLAR. ON THE DEATH OF LUIGI ROSSETTI, THE PROPERTY PASSED FROM HAND TO HAND, EXPERIENCING EVEN ABANDONMENT. THIS ENDED IN 1979 WITH THE BIRTH OF ANTICA FRATTA, A PROJECT THAT WOULD RESTORE ITS ANCIENT SPLENDOUR. TODAY, ANTICA FRATTA “RE-LAUNCHES,” WITH RENEWED AND GREATER AMBITIONS, AND WITH THE FIRM INTENTION OF BECOMING THE “ESSENCE” OF FRANCIACORTA.
