Colour: Ruby red Nose: Full, complex, intense bouquet redolent of violet and berries Palate: In the mouth it is enveloping, elegant, and persistent. The background has distinct notes of plum, bitter cherry, strawberry jam, black pepper
Wine Advocate 94 points - The 2007 Taurasi Radici boasts stunning richness, depth and power, yet remains relatively accessible and approachable for such a young Taurasi. Juicy dark cherries, cinnamon, plums, spices, incense, tobacco and a myriad of aromas and flavors saturate the palate as this big, textured wine opens up in the glass. Despite its considerable richness and plushness, the 2007 never loses its classical sense of structure. If that combination sounds appealing, believe me, it is. This is a flat-out stunner from Mastroberardino. Best of all, it will drink beautifully pretty much right out of the gate. I imagine the 2007 will be a total home run in restaurants or in other settings where young wines are opened as a matter of necessity. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. ”  (Feb 2013)

Wine Spectator 91 points - This full-bodied red mixes ripe plum and racy wild berry flavors with layers of spicy underbrush, game, ash and dark tobacco notes. Shows fine length, with a smoky aftertaste. Drink now through 2022.—N.W. (Oct 24 2012)

In the two thousand year history of the Aglianico grape, Taurasi, the wine of the ‘vigne opime’ of old Taurasia mentioned by Livy, has a special place. Radici, which was produced for the first time in 1986, is the result of painstaking research into exposure, chemical and physical characteristics of terroir, and topography. Its strong personality, dense structure, and aromatic concentration are the primary features of this prestigious symbol of Irpinian viticulture.

Food pairing
A fine accompaniment to roast meats and larger game (deer, wild boar, etc.), spiced dishes or truffle, and mature cheese.

Producer
The world of wine is not a simple, one-dimensional world. It is a world in which generations try to understand each other and at the same time offer their own contribution. This is a heritage which grows slowly and ponderously, learning from mistakes and difficulties, taking the royal road where possible, which is hardly ever the quickest path. This heritage involves accepting events extensively, without submitting to the siren call of immediate results, affecting the day-to-day work whilst respecting the coherence of the greater vision. All this, and many more great, unlimited factors, lead the members of the Mastroberardino family to see themselves as interpreters, who receive a testimony and in turn pass it on. Aware of this, they see their role as being merely as a component of a harmonious process, in which all parts become an indivisible whole, in reverence to the cultural message which this long history embodies and bequeaths…...
