Muscat is one of the flagship grape varieties of southern France. Gerard Bertrand has turned it into one of this specialties with Muscato, the latest in his highly contemporary range. A blend of the Muscat d’Alexandrie and Muscat Petit Grain varieties, this cuvee comes from vines with limited yields giving the wine a rare quality and great complexity.
Wine maker notes
The grapes are picked very early (early August) in order to produce a balanced, aromatic, fresh wine. The fruits are pressed directly in a pneumatic press. After the musts have settled under cold conditions fermentation takes place at low temperatures in order to conserve all the fruity aromas and freshness. Maturing is performed on the fine lees in order to preserve the aromatic character of the grape varieties.

Producer
From the discovery of the Tautavel man to the Roman hegemony in Narbonne, via the Visigoth occupation and the Cathar heresy, Languedoc-Roussillon’s past is steeped in rich history. At the beginning of the 20th Century, a phylloxera epidemic, coupled with overproduction and widespread fraud, wrought havoc for winegrowers, who subsequently decided to revolt. Since the 1950s the wines of the Languedoc have become increasingly refined, and the best estates now produce wines of truly exceptional quality. Gerard Bertrand is determined to drive this progress even further, through continued innovation and by creating internationally-renowned appellations and wines.
