Color: dark purplish red.
Nose: scents of spice and tobacco, violets, blackberry and ripe cherry.
Taste: well-structured and round, long finish
Wine Spectator 90 points - A beefy style, laced with spicy, bacon-scented oak that frames sweet black cherry and plum flavors. This is a flamboyant wine, with pure fruit and fine texture and harmony. It all converges on the long, fruit- and spice-filled finish. Impressive. Drink now through 2016. 1,165 cases made.-BS

Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2008 Barbera d’Asti Pomorosso is a big, exotic wine. It shows terrific focus in its dark, jammy fruit, yet also has more than enough minerality to provide balance. Smoke, licorice and tar are some of the nuances that add complexity on the saline finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. (Oct 2011)
