Ponzi Vineyards, one of Oregon's pioneer wineries, was founded in 1970 by Dick and Nancy Ponzi. Since then they have set a standard for Oregon's viticultural innovation and winemaking excellence. In 1988 Dick Ponzi was recognized by Robert Parker as one of the world's finest winemakers, one of only three Americans so distinguished. In 1994 his daughter Luisa took over winemaking duties from her father, though the two still work closely together. Luisa apprenticed with Christophe Roumier of Domaine Roumier in Burgundy as well as with Luca Currado of Vietti in Piedmont. The Ponzi family has always maintained a philosophy of building strong, healthy vineyards through sustainable agricultural practices. All 120 acres of the Ponzi owned and managed vineyards - Estate, Abetina, Madrona, Aurora and Avellana - are LIVE Certified Sustainable. Ponzi Vineyards consistently achieves excellence in the creation of its wines. No expense is spared, nor experimentation left untried.
"There is a reputation behind our label that I want people to know they can count on.”
~ Winemaker Luisa Ponzi

| This very rare and special Italian varietal is traditionally planted in the Northern Piedmonte region of Italy. During one of the many trips to visit the Currado Family of Vietti Winery, the family was surprised by the wine’s elightful flavors and lovely balance. Continuing their innovation in the vineyard and cellar, they immediately planted cuttings of Arneis in 1991. |
