A deep mahogany brown, with olive hues indicates considerable years of maturation. The bouquet is a combination of malt and honey, with hints of raisins and the unmistakable scent of tea leaves, which is the hallmark of Rutherglen tokay. There is a real lusciousness and weight on the palate with full, mellow honeyed flavours, lingering complex rancio characters and drying tannins on the finish to balance the sweetness and prevent it from cloying. Blended for optimum flavour and balance prior to bottling, this wine will not improve with further cellaring and should ideally be enjoyed soon after opening.
This classification is rare by name and by nature. These are the pinnacle Rutherglen Tokays– fully developed and displaying the extraordinary qualities that result from the blending of selected parcels of only the very richest and most complete wines in the cellar. Rare Rutherglen Tokays are only bottled in tiny quantities each year, but for those privileged to taste them, these are wines of breathtaking complexity, texture and depth of flavour. The Tokays of Rutherglen bear a mark of authenticity – an oval logotype with a stylised "R” – which is only applied to the wines drawn from the great vineyards of the region. The "Tokay of Rutherglen” trademark assures the highest quality of wine exclusively sourced from the Rutherglen Wine Region. Campbell’s ‘house style’ is typically complex and elegant, capturing a rich purity of fruit flavours.

| 100% Rutherglen Tokay (Muscadelle) from Campbells Rutherglen vineyards. Fruit is left to ripen on the vine until as late as possible to ensure the necessary high degree of lusciousness. Juice is fermented for only a very short time before being fortified with neutral spirit and stored in oak to mature. Only the very best fruit from the finest vintages is used in the blend. As with any blended wine, it is difficult to specify an exact age. The oldest base wine is well over 60 years old, with only wines of the highest standard from excellent vintages being added to this outstanding solera.

| Situated entirely within the defined Rutherglen Wine Region, our vineyards total approximately 64 hectares (160 acres) of trialled and proven varieties. Rutherglen’s warm and dependable climate is, in many ways similar to the Rhone region of France and it comes as no surprise that the Rhone specialties of Shiraz (known as Syrah in France) and Durif prosper here.
Pride in the past and a commitment to the future by the Campbell Family today is evident with the 4th generation brothers Malcolm (viticulturist) and Colin (winemaker), who together with their wives Jenny and Prue and their mother Isabel, own and operate Campbells Wines. They have been joined by the fifth generation. Susan, daughter of Colin and Prue is our Marketing Manager and her sister Julie provides valuable input into our winemaking team. Since graduating with Honours in Oenology from Adelaide University in 2000 Julie has pursued her passion for shiraz (and languages) around the globe.
At Campbells, we are in a unique and privileged position. We have over four generations of winemaking knowledge, decades of aged stocks and some of the most modern winemaking technology available. This allows us to not only skillfully manage our ancient soleras to produce our Rutherglen Muscats and Tokays, but to capture the pure natural grape flavours of Rutherglen varieties and express them fully in our reds and whites.
