Wine Spectator 89 points - The roast plum, dried cherry, date and treacle notes are set with light tannins and well-meshed acidity in this balanced red. Accents of ground anise and espresso creme show on the finish. Drink now through 2019. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 2,500 cases made.-AN  (Jun 15 2014)

Wine Enthusiast 90 points - No doubt: this is a seductive, modern wine with opulent oak shadings that translate into chocolate fudge, spice and creme brulee. Beyond the big oak tones are cherry fruit and Indian spice and the wine renders a very soft and round impression in the mouth.  (Oct 2009)

Wine Advocate 94 points - Another monumental achievement, the 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella Bosan shows just a glimmer of its age with aromas of tobacco and root beer that segue to dark fruit and spice. The Bosan vineyard is planted to 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella with the Pergola training system on clay and chalky-alluvial soils. It sits tight on the palate with thick extraction and a touch of sweetness followed by savory spice. Polished tannins stand at the back. Bosan can be consumed now, or you could wait ten years or more. Drink 2014-2025. (Oct 2013)

Wine maker notes
Located in the Illasi Valley of the Valpolicella region, Cesari’s Bosan vineyard is a densely planted vineyard featuring alluvial, tuffaceous soil with a clayey consistency. The grapes for this wine are dried for three to four months in “fruittai,” drying facilities. The wine undergoes maceration on the skins and is then racked off its lees and placed in stainless steel vats to undergo malolactic fermentation. Cesari Bosan Amarone is aged for three years in Slavonian oak barrels and French barriques and tonneaux and is further matured in bottle for 12 to 15 months. Aromas of cherries are accented by hints of spices, cocoa, and vanilla. This elegant wine complements hearty dishes like game, grilled red meats, and stews.
