Familia has a deep red color with purple hues, and an aroma rich in berries, violets, and smoke. On the palate there is an excellent balance between the oak and fruit and a full, rich, mouth-feel. The dark fruit flavors linger in the finish.
Familia was selected as “Chile’s Best Premium Wine” for two consecutive years and has become one of the benchmark wines of Chile. The wine is produced from a strict selection of the finest grapes grown on the De Martino family’s estate in Isla de Maipo estate. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, and Malbec vines have an average age of 35 years. The alluvial soil, which is composed of sand, clay, and stones, and the dry climate, cause the vines to develop a deep rooting system. Grapes are hand harvested and hand selected prior to being crushed. Fermentation takes place in small, temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks and the resulting wine is aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels.
|De Martino Familia is perfectly suited to hearty meat and game dishes. It is an excellent wine to pair with rack of lamb and grilled steaks.
|De Martino is one of Chile’s pioneering wineries. It is also one of the leading organic producers, owning 12% of all certified organic vineyard area in Chile. These estate wines are serious examples of Maipo’s potential for producing high quality wines which are at the same time organic.
