Wine Advocate 90 points - The 2008 Il Colorino di Casanova comes across as quite rich and dark in its wild cherries, tobacco, smoke and worn-in leather. This shows excellent balance in a brooding, yet mid-weight style. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. (Aug 2011)
La Spinetta started in 1977 as a Moscato producer, but have built their business to make many wines, largely from native Italian varietals. Colorino is one such grape, and this wine from their Casanova vineyard has scents of plum and wild berry on the nose leading to a palate with intense fruit and chocolate flavors. It's perfect with grilled meat, pasta and soft cheeses.
