Tangerine, mango and clean aromas of orange spice join with pineapple, baked pears and hints of tell-tale cinnamon, common to Gewürztraminer. This wine can be zesty, and flavors of clove, orange and caramelized apples come to the fore.
Crisp acidity combined with delicate fruit flavors and a touch of residual sugar are the hallmarks of Fetzer Gewürztraminer. These qualities are complemented by forward floral aromas and richness attributed to the addition of a Muscat component to the blend. The wine is deep golden straw colored, with a nose of dried apricot, spicy peach, a touch of rose petal and honeysuckle. In the mouth, crisp green apple, honeyed apricot, and peach flavors meld with the traditional spicy flavors of Gewürztraminer. This medium-bodied wine’s off-dry style strikes the perfect balance between its sweetness and bright, crisp acidity. This fresh, soft wine is a true delight to sip, especially when paired with many ethnic food styles, such as Asian or Hispanic cuisines.
|From muscadine grapes grown right on our property to real tea grown a couple of miles away at America’s only tea plantation, our products are crafted with real ingredients, from our own backyard. Firefly Distillery opened its doors in 2008 and is one of the very few in the country to be both a vineyard and a distillery.
The largest micro-distillery in South Carolina, Firefly Distillery even has a tasting room, where people may taste Firefly products and purchase bottles right on the property. Visitors may partake in wine tastings and winery tours within the 11 acres of muscadine grapes at the vineyard, or take a quick drive down the road to the Charleston Tea Plantation for tours any day of the week.
Apart from being home to Jim and Ann Irvin, Firefly Distillery is also home to many furry friends.
