The 2003 vintage of Cims de Porrera Solanes is a distinctive blend of the five red grape varieties grown in the D.O.Q. Priorat: 50% old-vine Cariñena, 30% Garnacha, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 5% Syrah.
The Perez family, who are among the five pioneering wine families who re-discovered Priorat in the late 1980’s, closely manage the 52 growers who cultivate the 54 hectares (133 acres) that produce grapes for the Cims de Porrera wines. Distributed over 150 different vineyard plots, these vineyards vary from young to very old and most are comprised of the ancient head-pruned vines for which Priorat is famous. As the vineyards lie at different altitudes and geographical locations, the grape varieties from each location are monitored closely to ensure the best grapes are selected at harvest.
