A vibrant, sweet bouquet of raspberry jam, molassesand cinnamon toast evoke the senses of carefree youthful nights. Excellent oak integration provides silken tannins and spice to pair with Lodiís unrestricted wild berry fruit.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2010 and 2011 7 Deadly Zins are both 100% Zinfandels that spent 11 months in American oak with a production of a staggering 300,000 cases While I thought the 2010 would be the best wine (based on what I knew about the vintages), in fact, the spicy 2011 7 Deadly Zins is better. Fuller and richer with more texture and deeper fruit, it reveals hints of tapenade, new saddle leather, black cherries and black currants. It offers a lot of flavor for its price. (Aug 2013)
The Michael David Phillips Seven Deadly Zins packs a wallop; rich, powerful and lasting from start to finish.
|Wine maker notes
|A sinful blend indeed! Our flagship Zinfandel was devised by the two Phillips brothers in their search for a blended Zin so captivating that no one could refuse. With consistency in mind, the brothers decided to blend the fruit of Lodiís finest growers to fill the bottles of Michael~Davidís new-fangled wine. In the end, seven vineyards were chosen for their superiority. Now, how do you label a wine so unique in style? Looking to their past, the two Phillips brothers quickly related the Seven Sins from their Catholic school upbringing to the seven Old Vine Zinfandels blended in their wine.
